Most developers are chasing influencer shoutouts or burning budgets on ads. But if you understand search intent, you know this:

If someone is searching for your solution, they’re already halfway down the funnel.

We’ve seen it firsthand:

The secret? A repeatable ASO system that focuses on relevance, visibility spikes, and ranking leverage.

Step 1: Start with a realistic target – $1,000/Month

Before dreaming about $100K, your first goal is to hit $1,000/month.

Why?

  • It forces discipline in your strategy.

  • It gives you data to optimize your funnel.

  • It builds confidence and credibility (for yourself and potential investors).

Our clients who hit $1,000 often do it without paid ads – then scale up by iterating on what works.

Step 2: Target 6–10 hyper-relevant keywords

Here’s the tricky part: You don’t need dozens of keywords. You need the right ones.

What we look for:

  • 6–10 highly relevant keywords

  • Search score ≥ 30 (≥ 25 can work, avoid low 20s)

  • Prioritize relevance over volume – you want users who convert, not just click.

  • Subtitle

  • Keyword Field (iOS)

  • Spanish (Mexico) localization — Apple indexes it in the U.S. App Store, so you can rank for English keywords in this slot.

💡 Pro Tip: Don’t keyword-stuff your subtitle. Keep copy natural, value-driven, and user-friendly. Overstuffed metadata hurts conversion.

Step 3: Trigger short-term visibility with a 2-Day lifetime deal

ASO isn’t passive. A short-term spike in downloads can push your app up the charts, locking in long-term visibility.

Our favorite tactic?

  • Submit the promo to AppAdvice, Indie App Santa, and similar platforms.

  • Watch installs multiply – often 1,000+ downloads in two days.

⚡ Pro Tip: AppAdvice requires:

  • Minimum 5 ratings

  • Average rating ≥ 3.0

  • Proper setup (don’t pitch them before the promo is live — respect their time)

Step 4: Use ASOMobile to identify keyword gaps

Flying blind on keywords is risky. We use ASOMobile to:

  • Identify high-traffic keywords (≥ 25) with low competition

  • Spot gaps where competitors don’t rank strongly

  • Track keyword ranking shifts over time

Example:

  • A competitor ranks for “frequency generator.”

  • ASOMobile shows search score, complexity, and relevancy.

  • If a few apps have this in their title, that’s your low-competition entry point.

ASO isn’t just about installs – conversion is king.

  • Install → Trial rate (~5% target)

  • Trial → Paid rate (30–40% target)

These numbers help identify weak spots in your funnel so you don’t waste visibility on unqualified users.
